Our Mandate

Sharing the Gospel

β€œGo ye therefore, and teach all nations.” The Savior gave us this charge β€” and it's for everyone, not just the perfect family or the friend who seems ready. Every person needs to hear the gospel.

Where to Begin

Two Things to Do First

Before any idea below, start with these two daily habits. They are the foundation of every effort to share the gospel β€” and the Lord will do the rest.

A couple kneeling in prayer
1

Faithfully pray for courage to open your mouth

Each day, offer faithful prayer to Heavenly Father asking for the courage to speak. Opportunities to share the gospel are all around us β€” we simply need the courage to open our mouths. As we do, the Lord will lead us to those who are ready to hear.

2

Faithfully pray for knowledge to know what to say

Many of us may not know how to bring up the gospel or what words to use. But as we open our mouths in faith, the Lord will guide us and give us the knowledge of what to say. Trust Him to put the right words in your heart.

Then go and look. Be faithful in going out and looking for opportunities. As you pray for courage and knowledge and then act, the Lord will place opportunities in your path. The ideas below give you practical ways to share the truth you know β€” from the simplest habits to the boldest invitations.

Practical Ideas

From Easy to Challenging

Choose something that fits where you are today. Start small, and as your courage grows, take a bolder step. Every effort matters.

Simple Daily Habits

Start here β€” small things anyone can do

1

Pray each morning for courage to open your mouth and for someone to share the gospel with that day.

2

Pray by name for a friend, neighbor, coworker, or family member who doesn't yet know the gospel.

3

Smile and warmly greet the people you encounter each day β€” neighbors, cashiers, coworkers.

4

Follow and engage with the Church's official social media accounts so good content shows up in your feed.

5

Share a Church video, post, or article on your own social media with a few honest words of your own.

6

Keep a pass-along card or copy of the Book of Mormon with you, ready for a conversation.

Taking a Step

A little more intention β€” reach out to someone

1

Share a brief testimony or a gospel thought naturally in a conversation with a friend.

2

Text a gospel video, scripture, or encouraging message to someone who might need it.

3

Invite a friend or neighbor to a community activity β€” kickball, Saturday soccer, or a free class.

4

Invite someone to an Invitation Sunday sacrament meeting.

5

Give a Book of Mormon or pass-along card to someone and tell them why it matters to you.

6

Offer a simple act of service, and when asked why, share that it's because of your faith in Jesus Christ.

7

Invite someone to a Self-Reliance, English Connect, or family history class.

Bold Invitations

Step out in faith β€” the Lord will go with you

1

Have an honest gospel conversation with a coworker or neighbor about what you believe and why.

2

Invite a friend to meet with the full-time missionaries.

3

Write your testimony inside a copy of the Book of Mormon and give it to someone.

4

Reach out to a less-active or former member and offer genuine friendship.

5

Host a friend to watch general conference with you.

6

Talk about the gospel with someone you don't know well β€” a new acquaintance, a classmate, a teammate.

7

Invite someone to learn more and, when they're ready, to be baptized.

He Will Go With You

Open Your Mouth

You don't need the perfect words or the perfect person. You need courage, knowledge, and the faith to act. Pray, then go β€” and watch how the Lord opens doors you never expected.
